Reasons for Being

Whilst Head of Clinical Quality Assurance in a global pharmaceutical company I frequently had a need to outsource clinical audits either owing to a need for additional resources, or for specialised skills. The choices available to me were either a freelance clinical auditor, or an auditor within the QA department of a large CRO. I found that the number of freelance auditors with the necessary skills set and capability was limited, and those that were suitably experienced were usually booked-up for 6 months and so would not be able to help me with my immediate (usually urgently requested) needs. As for the large CROs, they could provide highly skilled individuals at short notice, but there were occasionally conflict of interest issues. Most CROs are unhappy (understandably) to be audited by a competitor CRO.

I really wanted to work with a truly independent QA group that could provide me with skilled and experienced resources when I needed them, and without any conflict of interest. At the time there were no such companies available, and so I decided to set one up! Hence in 1997 Adamas Consulting was established with a team of experienced auditors. We have two offices based in Berkshire, UK and North Carolina, USA.
